Job Description:
Our client seeks a Director of Intellectual Property and Licensing to assist in developing and executing the company’s overall intellectual property monetization, patent prosecution and patent portfolio development strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and executing the company’s overall intellectual property monetization, patent prosecution and patent portfolio development strategies.
- Manage experienced team of intellectual property professionals responsible for:
- Analyzing company patent portfolio and identify potential license opportunities for use in patent licensing
activities with third parties.
- Working closely with technology, legal and other business groups in identification of IP for potential commercialization.
- Creating patent value presentations and patent proof packages for use during negotiations with third parties.
- Negotiate and execute patent and technology licensing agreements and patent sale transactions for the company, in order to generate licensing income for the corporation.
- Coordinating with IP legal teams in:
- Developing/maintaining intellectual property agreements and patent databases.
- Fostering invention generation and patent filing activities across business units
- Developing an overall company patent portfolio strategy.
- Team with the business development organization to assist in identification, valuation and securing of intellectual property associated with mergers and acquisition activities.
- Manage existing IP agreements.
- Develop and distribute status reports to stakeholders.
- Analyzing company patent portfolio and identify potential license opportunities for use in patent licensing
Job Requirements:
- Proven track record in developing, executing and sustaining an effective intellectual property and patenting strategy for operating companies.
- Prior experience in securing multi-million dollar intellectual property licensing income.
- Proven ability to manage multi-functional teams in execution of company intellectual property strategy.
- Demonstrated telecommunications/networking technology-related expertise.
- Ability to work with senior executives in communicating and coordinating company patent licensing strategy goals.
- Strong business acumen, effective oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated individual, ability to work independently.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high visibility multi-tasking environment.
- BS in technical or business discipline.
- JD or MBA highly desirable.
- 15+ years supervisory or managerial experience.
- 10 + years of experience in intellectual property.
