Assistant Controller (Distressed Securities)
Compensation: $80-100K + Bonus

Job Description:
Prestigious private investment bank seeks Assistant Controller to manage fund activity for distressed securities.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for all fund activity
- Financial Statements
- Calculate and pay offshore withholding tax
- Prepare tax allocations and annual tax returns for each fund
- Ensure employee and registrant SEC compliance
- Prepare annual audit (vault count, confirmations, investment activity)
- Report investment performance and capital activity to investors
- Review quarterly letters sent to investors
- Accounts payable
- Review legal agreements for investment activity
- Reconciliation of bank and broker statements
- Set up new accounts
- Prepare marketing materials
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, accounting major preferred
- 5 years general accounting experience with 2 years of SEC compliance and 2 years debt accounting
- Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles and procedures
- Self-starter with ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of SS&C Advisorware software; proficiency in Intuit Turbo Tax, MS Excel & Word
